Doc's Rocks Gem Mine

School groups are always welcome at Doc's...

We are currently working on getting a flyer out to all local schools in our area and surrounding counties.

Rates are $5 per child to the mine and $4 per child to the fossil museum. Teachers are free!

At the mine your students will learn a lot about North Carolina’s rich mining history and how the rocks and gemstones form. In the museum they will learn how fossils form and how climate change effects what fossils you will find in different areas. This is a great way to introduce your students to the world of earth science and get them excited about it before teaching it in your classroom. It is also a great way to end your earth science related subject by showing your students what they have been learning about.
